My Gear

In a World that is forever changing in terms of technology ie cameras and lenses, not to mention AI and software etc, I prefer to still take images as they were seen at the time. Editing / post processing is only done to the bear basics and even then its very minimal, whilst I own a nice seelction of software and apps on my aging Samsung S23 I still keep things basic.

ie cropping an image for its final finish, be it framing, put onto canvas or what the client needs. Saturation, sometimes just a little extra colour is needed to make the image stand out from the rest, I will list the software I use after I have covered ‘My Gear’.

My Cameras

Nikon ZFC: Owned for many years now, mostly used for my video work and when in an area that needs the retro style, it saves having your head caved in as it looks and bbehaves so old (retro), plus sometimes its nice to think about photography more using entire manual controls ie aperture, shutter speed, ISO etc.

Nikon Z50: Having owned the predecessor the Nikon D50, it felt right havng this camera, thankfully it was a gift from my Mum last year to celebrate my 40th Birthday, it works the same as my ZFC (Above) and uses the latest Nikon Z lenses and accessories, sadly no articulating screen but more the controls you’d expect to find on a modern mirrorless camera.

Fujifilm X30

Fujifilm X30: Owned for a few weeks now, I bought it used from Wants in Plymouth, Its a superb camera that looks retro and produces some wonderful photos too, I do and often have admired the different Fujifilm filters / photo styles that are included with the Fujifilm line-up.  I used to have the Fujifilm X10 and X100 – both superb cameras, this one is to stay with me, unless someone wants it more than me they can find it for sale on my web shop.  (link

DJI MAVIC MINI 3 WITH RC REMOTE

DJI Mavic Mini 3 with RC Remote: Owned since new, maintained and well looked after, a huge step up from the original MK1 especially with the real-time RC remote, you see everything the drone does. I always go for the combo pack which includes extra batteries and accessories ie tools and spare rotor blades.

My Lenses

Nikon 24-70mm F4 S Z: Owned for a couple of years now, this is my go to lens for 99% of the time. Its superb for all aspects of the photography style I do from wide landscapes at 24mm or portraiture etc at 70mm.

Viltrox 23mm 1.4 Z: Owned for a couple of years now, this is my go to lens for wide landscapes and night events etc, at 1.4 it is super for depth of field photos and offers fantastic low light performance.

Yongnuo 85mm 1.8 Z:  Picked up used on eBay and its alright actually, needs to be tested some more but for what I paid its looking good.  Im hoping it will be good enough for some close-up wildlife photos down at Tincombe Park.

VILTROX E Z MOUNT ADAPTER

Sony 70-200mm F4 + Viltrox E-Z Mount Adapter:  Ive owned both the Sony 70-200mm F4 and the Viltrox adapter since new and the combined equipment works very well on my Nikon Z cameras be it a little top-heavy. If I decide to sell they will be advertised here / link.
