VHF Marine Antennas in Plymouth
The loss of the Penlee Lifeboat is something that has always been very close to my heart. Growing up in West Cornwall, I often visited the same places that Solomon Brown and her crew knew so well, long before the tragic disaster in 1981 that claimed all their lives—four years before I was even born. Every year, I make it a point to watch the tribute video (see below), as a stark reminder of just how lucky we are and of the incredible importance of the RNLI and their selfless work.
My hometown of Penzance is only about a mile from the former Penlee Lifeboat station, which now stands as an empty shell, a quiet monument dedicated to the bravery of the men who risked everything to save others. Visiting it always fills me with respect and gratitude, and it’s a reminder of the courage, dedication, and spirit of community that continues to inspire me to this day.
When cycling from Penzance to Newlyn and Mousehole, the former RNLI Lifeboat Station was along the route to Mousehole.

I have experience myself
I am a former volunteer watchkeeper, based in Penzance at the former Coastwatch building. Over the course of more than two years, I helped monitor the coastline and ensure the safety of people at sea, working closely and regularly with Falmouth Coastguard. This experience gave me a deep understanding of coastal safety, emergency response, and the vital work of the RNLI and other maritime services in Cornwall.
